The 179th humanitarian aid convoy of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) has delivered 145 tons of food and books to Lugansk, the Lugansk People’s Republic Emergencies Ministry press service reported.

“On Tuesday, August 2, a new EMERCOM convoy delivered relief supplies for Donbass residents to the LPR capital,” the Ministry said. “Fifteen EMERCOM trucks have delivered 145.5 tons of food and textbooks (5,020 items) for the Lugansk Pedagogical University.”

On August 1, the 178th EMERCOM convoy delivered water, food and construction supplies to the LPR.

Russia first sent relief supplies to the LPR on August 22, 2014.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The members of the Contact Group on conflict settlement have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce, opening fire with large calibre artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn from the contact line under the accords. *t
