Residents of the Melovoye township have held an “Immortal Regiment” march on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of their settlement from Nazi invaders, a media holding reported.   “Melovoye residents marched with the “Immortal Regiment” proudly holding the photos of their grandfathers and great grandfathers,” Luganmedia said. “Residents then rallied at Feodosy Checherev Square to mark the 80th anniversary of Melovoye liberation from Nazi invaders.”   The commemorative events were attended by Natalia Shkoda, deputy head of the LPR leader administration and Melovoye district administration acting head Oleg Savchenko. They laid flowers to the monuments to Great Patriotic War heroes and international warriors.    A concert took place at the local culture center.   German troops occupied Melovoye on July 11, 1942. On January 3, 1943, units of the Red Army’s 57th Guards Rifle Division surrounded the settlement and engaged the enemy in fierce clashes on January 7.  The settlement was liberated on January 16, 1943.*jk*v
