A joint delegation of Southern Mining and Metallurgical Complex (YuGMK) and Russian “Uralvagonzavod” concern has visited the Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (AMK) in the Lugansk People’s Republic.
The Russian representatives familiarized themselves with AMK production facilities, capabilities, product range, product quality and available production levels.
“It’s a quick but very productive visit. We are among the largest Russian enterprises; our products are known all over the world. We’re interested in products currently manufactured by the Republic and we’ll be interested in seeing these products to be always manufactured in the interests of our Russian industry, and certainly “Uranvagonzavod,” said its Director General Alexander Potapov.
“The current production volumes for metal are very important to “Uralvagonzavod,” Potapov said. “We must build very correct supply and production chains. We have to leave here with concrete proposals and clear understanding of how we’ll work together tomorrow.”
YuGMK Director General Yevgeny Yurchenko said that “Uralvagonzavod is one of the largest metal consumers in Russia employing more than 60,000 people.”
“The Lugansk land is renowned for machine building, too, in the first place railway vehicles, both locomotives and high quality open freight cars which are absolutely different equipment,” he said.
Yurchenko expressed confidence that the Donbass revival would start with machine-building, “that is why the Russian Union of Machine-Builders opened its offices both in the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics.
“We’re very glad and grateful to our colleagues for showing such a genuine interest in what is happening in the Republic,” the investor said.
He gave Potapov a Donetsk Railway bond with the face value of 125 rubles, issued by the Imperial Russian Government in 1893.
In October 2021, AMK and other large metallurgical and coking companies of Donbass, previously run by the Vneshtorgservis private company, were handed over to YuGMK with the view of production development. YuGMK took over the Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works, the Stakhanov Ferroalloy Plant and a number of companies in the Donetsk People’s Republic. It also runs the Yenakiyevo and Makeyevka steel mills, the Makeyevka coking plant, the Yasinovsky coking plant, the Komsomolskoye mine administration and the Lugansk Casting and Mechanical Plant. Yevgeny Yurchenko is YuGMK Director General.
Earlier, Yurchenko said that AMK had fully paid the wage debt to the active workforce and former personnel and that the company planned to participate in Russian government procurements. *i*s
