Stanitsa Luganskaya crossing point will be open from 7:00 a.m. on 1 April, one hour earlier than in March due to Ukraine’s switchover to summer time, LPR State Security Ministry said.
“Stanitsa Luganskaya crossing point’s opening hours have changed for people’s convenience; it will be open from 7:00 a.m. till 7:30 p.m.,” the Ministry said.
The crossing point has operated from 8:00 a.m. till 7:30 p.m. since 1 March.
On 29 March, LPR envoy to Minsk talks Vladislav Deinego said the Contact Group participants urged measures towards faster contact line crossing and longer opening hours of checkpoints.
In autumn 2016, LPR State Security Ministry Border Service set the opening hours of Stanitsa Luganskaya checkpoint from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. as Ukrainian forces stepped up provocative shelling of the area taking advantage of the time difference between Ukraine and LPR.
Currently there is only one official checkpoint at the line of contact in LPR area of responsibility in Donbass and it is accessible via the bridge in vicinity of Stanitsa Luganskaya. Only pedestrian traffic here is possible thanks to temporary conduit, as the bridge was blown up by Ukrainian forces. LPR has been continuously proposing to rebuild it.
