“Some 32,000 children in the Lugansk People’s Republic have been filed for medical surveillance after well child checkups and more than 3,000 have received treatment in hospitals, LPR Healthcare Minister Natalia Pashchenko said.
“Doctors have also reported more than 30 serious pathology cases including cancer and hematologic malignancies,” Pashchenko said adding that a part of these children had been sent to Russian federal hospitals for treatment.
She called upon parents to take a serious attitude to well child checkups and use this chance to bring up healthy children.
LPR Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik who had met with First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergey Kiriyenko, Education Minister Sergey Kravtsov and Russian Healthcare Minister Mikhail Murashko said that LPR doctors would be able to complete medical examinations of children by the end of the school year thanks to the assistance of their colleagues from other regions.
Reports in the beginning of this month said that medics had already examined more than 94,000 children in the Lugansk People’s Republic.
Earlier, Pashchenko said that more than 30,000 children had been registered for regular health checks and that more than 2,700 LPR children had been hospitalized.
The Russian government allocated almost 1.5 billion rubles for medical examination of children in the new Russian regions. The LPR Healthcare Ministry expects more than 160,000 children living in the Republic to undergo medical examinations.
