The armed conflict unleashed by Ukraine has claimed the lives of 65 children in the Lugansk People’s republic since 2014; another 186 children have been injured , LPR ombudsperson for children Inna Shvenk said at the “Justice Amid Ukrainian Aggression. Donbass Reality” forum in Lugansk.
“Sixty-five children have been killed and 186 have been injured since 2014 to date,” Shvenk said.
Earlier she reported that as of July 27, 2023, 58 children had been killed and 182 had been injured in the LPR. In the Donetsk People’s Republic, 231 children had been killed and 499 had been injured.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The peace talks failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.
President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation on February 24, 2022 to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.
The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i
