Activists have gathered some 85,000 gifts for children who are undergoing long-term treatment in hospitals, as part of the United Russia political party’s charity action, said Lugansk People's Republic parliamentarian Antonina Mashkova who co-chairs the Lugansk regional council of party supporters.
“More than 17,000 people joined the “Courage Box” action for young hospital patients and children living in frontline areas or at temporary accommodation centers," the press service of the United Russia’s regional branch quoted Mashkova as saying. "It involves all local party branches, lawmakers, government bodies personnel and caring residents.”
The gifts were handed over to young patients at the Lugansk Multi-Purpose Children’s Hospital No 4 and Lugansk Republican Children's Tuberculosis Hospital. “The children were happy; we brought so much positive energy and joy to them,” she said.
Gifts were distributed to all LPR towns and districts. They included creativity kits, coloring books, pencils, felt pens, children’s books, dolls and toy cars. The children were free to choose the gift they liked best.
“Prolonged treatment is so stressful, so we want to make it easier for them,” Mashkova said.
The Courage Box action was launched in the LPR at the initiative of the Lugansk regional council of party supporters.*i
