The Alchevsk steel works (AMK) has launched the second blast furnace on Friday, the head of the Southern Mining and Metallurgical Enterprise (YuGMK) Evgeniy Yurchenko said.
"Today is a historic day not only for the LPR or Alchevsk, but for the entire Donbass. Today, the second blast furnace has been put into operation, furnace No.1. Before that, furnace No,5 had been launched with 2.5 thousand tons per year capacity. Furnace No.1 has 7 thousand tons per year capacity, it's a state-of-art production," he said.
The investor congratulated the AMK on this occasion, voicing hopes that the production is going to gain pace soon.
Earlier, the new AMK investor had cleared the wage depts for January and part of February.
The LPR and DPR leaders, Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin earlier said in a joint statement that the authorities had finalized the talks with an investment group over the funding and development of metallurgical and coke plants managed by the Vneshtorgservis company.
The Donbass Republics leaders said that the “new investor had pledged to pay the outstanding wages to active Vneshtorgservis personnel within three months, and within six months to terminated personnel. *t
