Bastrykin chairs conference in Lugansk over investigation into Ukraine’s war crimes
Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastryukin has chaired a conference in Lugansk over investigation into crimes committed by Kiev forces, the SK reported.
“Bastrykin chaired a briefing session in Lugansk focused on investigation into crimes committed by Ukrainian formations against civilians and Russian servicemen in the territory of Russia and Ukraine,” the report said.
He was also informed about the latest results of investigation into such crimes.
“The investigation into 116 criminal cases has been completed: of those, 104 cases were sent to the Prosecutor General’s Offices of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Two criminal cases against servicemen of the “Azov” regiment (an organization banned in the Russian Federation) and the National Guard of Ukraine are being finalized,” the SK said.
Together with the Federal Security Service, the SK is ascertaining the identity of commanders of Ukrainian army units and National Guard complicit in crimes against civilians.
The SK is investigating a case against Ukrainian nationals Natalia Dzhus and Anastasia Bayeva who used the Internet to inform Ukrainian forces about deployment sites of Russian and LPR troops and civil infrastructure facilities in the Novoaidar township.
Aside from the town of Mariupol, Rubezhnoye, Severdonetsk, Schastye, Kirovsk, Stakhanov and Krasny Luch, SK personnel examined Stanitsa Luganskaya and the town of Alchevsk. Overall 500 social and civil infrastructure facilities and almost 10,000 apartment houses and single-family houses have been examined.
The total cost of repairs reaches over 223 billion rubles. Damage assessment is ongoing.
“Bastrykin also addressed the participation of mercenaries on the side of Ukraine and the combat training of Ukrainian nationalists abroad. The conference participants discussed the establishment of SK branches in the new Russian regions,” the SK said.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.
The Lugansk People’s Republic joined Russia on September 30, 2022, based on the results of the unification referendum.*i*v
