Ukraine's ban on Russian social networks doesn't affect LPR users, said the head of tele-, radio- and interned systems department of the Communications Ministry Anna Sirotenko speaking at Lugansk Media Center today.
The Ukrainian president, Petr Poroshenko, has banned the country’s two most popular social networks – VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, its most popular email service Mail.ru and one of its most widely used search engines Yandex, all of them developed and maintained by Russian companies, as part of sanctions against Russia.
Poroshenko’s decree also blocked the site of the Russian cybersecurity giant Kaspersky Labs and several major Russian television channels and banks, as well as the popular business software developer 1C, widely used by Ukrainian customers.
After the restrictive measures had been announced, the banned social network VK registered a record-breaking 18 mln visits in Ukraine users in a single day.
"Ukraine and LPR belong to different technical and legal jurisdictions, Poroshenko's decree has no power in LPR," Sirotenko said.
"Internet providers registered with LPR work in LPR legal space, and the websites blocked in Ukraine won't be affected in LPR," she added.
