An elderly woman has been killed in the June 16 Ukrainian missile strike on Krasnyi Luch, the LPR Prosecutor Genral's Office said on Friday.

At least 20 people sustained injuries in Krasnyi Luch after Ukrainian forces hit the town with a Tochka-U missile late on June 16.

"A woman born in 1937 was killed in the attack, at least 15 people sustained injuries, 58 residential houses were damaged. A blaze caused by the explosion damaged a school and its property," the Office said.

A criminal case has been opened under Art. 439 Part 1,2 (Use of Banned Means and Methods of Warfare) and Art. 440 (Genocide).

Following the attack, more than 10.5 thousand customers in Krasnyi Luch suffered blackouts, and more than two thousand remained without gas supply.

The Inter-Regional HQ evacuated 300 people from the town.

Ukraine has been carrying out a military crackdown against Donbass since 2014. Multiple announcements of ceasefires failed to stabilize the situation. The simmering armed conflict escalated rapidly in February this year, and sent Donbass barreling towards an unprecedent bloodshed.

Russia intervened on February 24 by launching a special military operation to demilitarize Ukraine and bring peace back to Donbass. *t
