Federation Council committees to hold consultations over candidates for prosecutors in new regions
Committees of the Federation Council upper house of the Russian parliament will hold joint consultations over the candidates for prosecutor posts in the new Russian regions, the FC press service reported.
“Federation Councils committees will meet on December 22 over the candidates proposed by the president,” the report said.
The candidates for prosecutor are Gleb Mikhailov (Lugansk People’s Republic), Andrey Spivak (Donetsk People’s Republic), Kirill Osipchuk (Zaporozhye region) and Andrey Petrov (Kherson region).
The house speaker will inform the head of state about the FC committees’ consolidated position on the candidates.
The Russian Constitution requires the president to consult with the Federation Council over appointment or dismissal of prosecutors of Russian regions, military prosecutors or prosecutors of specialized prosecutor’s offices.
The Lugansk People’s Republic became a part of Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum. *i*v
