Mayor of the town of Kirovsk in the Lugansk People’s Republic Viktoria Sergeyeva has urged local residents to refrain from visiting cemeteries because of the persisting threat of Ukrainian artillery strikes and mine danger.    Sergeyeva, in a post on Telegram, asked the people to show an understanding saying that safety considerations were the only reason behind  these restrictions, due to the “persisting threat of shelling and incomplete demining of the town area.”   “It’s a Low Sunday tradition for townsfolk to visit cemeteries and clean up the territory where their relatives are buried. I'm asking to postpone these activities. It’s a forced measure because Ukrainian armed formation wage a purposeful war against civilians.  I sincerely hope that you’ll treat these restrictions with understanding and that you’ll be prudent, reasonable and responsible,” Sergeyeva said. Earlier, the authorities of Lisichansk and Pervomaisk called upon local residents not to visit cemeteries.   The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.   President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation on February 24, 2022 to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.   The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
