LPR acting head submits draft of new Constitution to parliament
Lugansk People’s Republic Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik has submitted the draft of the new Constitution to the LPR parliament which might adopt it as early as next week, parliament speaker Denis Miroshnichenko said.
“The Constitution is going through the required legal procedure in a dedicated committee,” Russia’s TASS news agency quoted Miroshnichenko as saying. “I believe it will be adopted next week because there are no obstacles at the stage it is currently passing through."
He noted that the procedure of adopting the new Fundamental Law is drawn out because “it’s not an ordinary law that can be quickly considered.”
Earlier he said that LPR lawmakers were planning to adopt the new constitution before yearend in connection with the Republic’s accession to Russia.
The Lugansk People’s Republic became a part of Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
