LPR gets first COVID-19 vaccines for adolescents - Health Ministry
The Lugansk People’s Republic has received the first ever batch of COVID-19 vaccines intended for adolescents, the LPR Healthcare Ministry press service reported.
The Gam-COVID-Vac-M combined vector vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus has been delivered to the Republic for the first time,” the press service said.
Its immunological properties and safety were researched during the clinical studies that involved volunteers aged 12 through 17.
“The immunization with Gam-COVID-Vak-M built stable cell-mediated immunity in 93.2 percent of examined volunteers,” the Ministry said.
The World Health Organization called the COVID-19 coronavirus infection a pandemic caused by a novel coronavirus. The first coronavirus infection cases were recorded in China in late 2019. The number of coronavirus contacts across the world has exceeded 620.3 million by now; of those, over 6.5 million people died, according to the WHO.
To prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection, the LPR authorities put the Republic on high alert and introduced lockdown measures. The Republic cancelled the COVID-19 alert on May 30.*i*ie
