LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik has appointed Rodion Miroshnik Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia.
"I hereby appoint Miroshnik Rodion Valeryievich the LPR Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russian Federation," the corresponding decree reads.
The decision has come into force.
Miroshnik has presented the copies of credentials to Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko.
Miroshnik was born in Lugansk (then Voroshilovgrad) on January 31, 1974. He graduated from the Lugansk State Pedagogical University named after Taras Shevchenko. First he worked as a teacher, and later landed a job on TV. He served as the head of the Lugansk Region State Television and Radio Company. He was elected a deputy of the Lugansk Region State Administration and was the press secretary of Ukraine's prime minister Viktor Yanukovich. Miroshnik served as the Deputy Head of the Lugansk Region State Administration in 2010-2011. In 2015-2022, he represented the LPR in the Contact Group's political subgroup and served as LPR Head's advisor on foreign policy issues.
Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the sovereignty of the Lugansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic on February 21, 2022. He asked the Federal Assembly to support this decision and then ratify the friendship and mutual assistance treaty with the Donbass Republics. On the same day, Putin and the LPR leader signed a friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance treaty between the Russian Federation and the Lugansk People’s Republic. *t
