Lugansk People’s Republic militiamen have opened retaliatory fire at Kiev army positions to protect civilians, LPR People’s Militia press service officer Anton Mikuzhis said.
Earlier, the LPR Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported that Kiev forces violated the ceasefire in the responsibility zone of the Lugansk People’s Republic once on Tuesday and that a LPR militiaman was killed as the Golubovskoye settlement came under fire.
“To protect civilians and avoid new casualties among militiamen, our defenders that to return fire,” Mikuzhis said.
The militia is updating the information on enemy losses.
“It is noteworthy that Ukraine replaced 57th Brigade commander just a few days ago. Col Bakulin decided to prove his loyalty to the Kiev regime in the capacity of 57th Brigade commander from the first days at this post,” the press service officer said.
The members of the Contact Group have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with large caliber artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn in accordance with the Minsk agreements.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. Conflict settlement relies on the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, signed on February 12, 2015 in the Belarussian capital by the Contact Group members and coordinated by the Normandy Four heads of states (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine).
