The LPR People's Militia has jammed a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle to prevent it from entering Republican airspace, the Defense's spokesman Ivan Filiponenko said.
"Our electronic warfare units, using the Triton system, jammed the control channels of a Phantom-type UAV of the Ukrainian 79th brigade outside Voitovo, preventing airspace infringement," he said.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. Conflict settlement relies on the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, signed on February 12, 2015 in the Belarussian capital by the Contact Group members and coordinated by the Normandy Four heads of states (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine). The document provides for ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons from the contact line.
Employing combat aviation and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in 30km-wide zone along the line of contact is banned under Article 7 of Minsk Memorandum, with the exception to OSCE SMM UAVs. *t
