Lugansk People’s Republic police officers have prevented sabotage in the village of Tsupovka, Kharkov region aimed at discrediting Russian servicemen, the LPR Interior Ministry public relations centre reported.

“Under the friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance treaty between the LPR and Russia, LPR police perform their duties and combat missions in the course of the Russian special military operation,” the report said.

“Acting on a tip from locals who said that Ukrainian saboteurs might be hiding in an abandoned house, police implemented special measures. They found a cache containing ready-to-use uniforms with Russian identification marks, Molotov cocktails, weapons and ammunition. It points at careful preparation of an act of sabotage to discredit Russian servicemen, with retreat options,” the LPR police said.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Earlier, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance. As of now, some 80 percent of the LPR territory has been liberated.

The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014.  The peace talks participants have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with large caliber artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn from the contact line under the accords. *i*s
