LUGANSK, October 20 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR medics register up to 1,400 cases of pneumonias weekly, LPR Chief Sanitary Officer Dmitry Dokashenko said.
"Currently, the growth (in the number of cases) is observed. Pneumonias are at up to 1,400 cases weekly. In addition, we still register high number of the coronavirus infection and RVI."
LPR has recently adopted a number of restrictive measures to contain the COVID-19 spread.
The World Health Organisation called the COVID-19 coronavirus infection a pandemic. The first coronavirus infection cases were recorded in China in late 2019. As of now, the number of coronavirus contacts across the world has exceeded 40,4 million; of those, over one million people have died. Earlier, the LPR confirmed 1,358 COVID-19 cases; 64 patients died.
To prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection, the LPR authorities put the Republic on high alert and introduced lockdown measures.
