The Lutugino district of the Lugansk People’s Republic and Russia’s Ulyanovsk region have signed a cooperation agreement.
The document was signed in the LPR Government House by head of the LPR district Yevgeny Bondar and Ulyanovsk region governor Alexey Russkikh.
“We’re brotherly peoples so we have common tasks; the Ulyanovsk region will do everything for the rebuilding of the Lugansk People’s Republic,” Russkikh said. “Today, we’ll carefully inspect the Lutugino district and tour its facilities in order to make the right decisions.”
LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik who attended the signing ceremony noted that Russia had been supporting Donbass for eight years.
“On my personal behalf and on behalf of all residents of our Republic I want to express deep gratitude for responding to our request for help and reaching out your hand in friendship and mutual understanding. It’s very important to us. It’s a very important consolidating point in the first place. Together, we’ll accomplish all tasks, such as the rebuilding of the Donbass economic potential. Believe me, this assistance is important not only economically, we’re certainly very thankful for it, but this is also moral support as it was in 2014,” the LPR leader said.
Russian regions expressed readiness to help the LPR restore peaceful life across the Republic. For example, the Bryansk region helps Bryanka, the Kaluga region assists Pervomaiskk, and Bashkortostan medics and road builders work in Krasny Luch. Cooperation agreements were signed between the Volgograd region and Alchevsk, the Tyumen region and the Krasnodon district, the Stavropol territory and the Antratsit district, the Republic of Komi and Rovenki, the Volgograd region and the Stanichno-Lugansky district, and the Omsk region and Stakhanov. The Altai territory is helping to rebuild the Slavyanoserbsk district, the Voronezh region is rebuilding the Melovoye, Markovo and Novopskov districts, the Novosibirsk region is rebuilding the Belovodsk district and the Saratov region is rebuilding the Svatovo district. Moscow and Lugansk became twin cities.
On February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the sovereignty of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics. He asked the Federal Assembly to support this decision and then ratify a friendship and mutual assistance treaty with the Donbass Republics. On the same day, Putin and LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik signed a friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance treaty between Russia and the Lugansk People’s Republic. *i*s
