The Lugansk People’s Republic state unitary enterprise RTK Vostokugol plans to produce more than 8.5 million tons of coal this year, Vostokugol Director General Konstantin Skrypnik said at a conference at the LPR Government House.
“We plan to mine some 8.5 million tons in 2022, expecting a 41 percent increase in the output from the previous year,” Skrypnik said.
These plans are possible thanks to the support from the Republic’s leadership and the demand in the coal market, he added.
In 2021, Vostokugol produced more than six million tonns of coal and launched 13 new coal faces. This year, the company is launching eight new coal faces, Skrypnik said.
LPR government chairman Sergey Kozlov said that the restructuring of the Republic’s coal industry and the establishment of the Vostokugol state-owned enterprise helped to double the number of newly launched coal faces and boost production by 2.5 times. LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik who set the main guidelines for coal industry restructuring said that Vostokugol would become the locomotive for the Republic’s economy. *i*s
