The 16-ya Liniya street in Lugansk has been renamed in honour of a Hero of the Russian Federation, participant of the special operation, Vladimir Zozulin, Lugansk Media Center reporter says.
The memorial plaque with the hero's name was installed on the Lugansk Academic Puppet Theater, and the LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik attended the ceremony of its unveiling, as well the city mayor Manolis Pilavov.
The rally commemorated Zozulin's memory by a minute's silence.
"We have renamed one of the streets in memory of a Russian soldier, a Hero of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Zozulin, who accomplished an outstanding feat during the special operation," Pasechnik said.
Vladimir Nikolaevich Zozulin was born in 1991. In 2013 he graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School named after Margelov, and was the Commander of the reconnaissance company of the 217th Guards Airborne Ivanovsky Regiment of the 98th Guards Airborne Svirskaya Airborne Division.
During the special operation on the territory of Ukraine, a group of servicemen from the company was ambushed. Having received multiple wounds, Zozulin, ordered his subordinates to retreat, while he himself remained to cover them. He fought for half an hour with superior enemy forces. Having used up the ammunition, the officer let the enemy approach, and blew up a grenade. On April 20, 2022, Zozulin was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. *t
