Doctors from Moscow have performed 700 surgeries and provided 1,500 consultations in the Lugansk People’s Republic over the past two weeks, the Moscow Health Department reported.    “Moscow specialists continue to work in shifts in Lugansk People’s Republic hospitals. Another multidisciplinary team of surgeons of various specialties, intensivists, orthopedic traumatologists, psychiatrists etc. - some 30 medics in all - has returned to the Russian capital,” the report said.  “For two weeks, they provided necessary assistance to LPR specialists. During the secondment term, they consulted 1,500 patients and performed nearly 700 emergency and elective surgeries.”    In addition to practical assistance, Moscow doctors also shared their experience with Donbass colleagues.   Some 200 Moscow doctors from 30 Moscow medical institutions have been providing regular medical assistance to patients in the LPR and the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Health Department said. They have performed nearly 5,500 surgeries and consulted some 15,000 patients in the Donbass Republics. Moscow also provides the opportunities to LPR and DPR medics to upgrade their skills at leading medical centers of the Russian capital.   For example, doctors of the Lugansk Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital are trained at Moscow’s Clinical and Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Trauma. They receive instruction in several fields such as pediatric surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric traumatology, anesthesiology,  resuscitation, x-ray diagnostics and pediatric urology. A one-month course includes theory and practice at field-specific departments of the Institute.   The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
