Miranda-Media and +7Telecom, the new wireless service providers in the Lugansk People’s Republic, might launch mobile internet in the LPR after the New Year, said regional Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Andrey Yershov.
“As of today, the Republican operator “Mobile Communications Systems” is phasing in this service,” Yershov told the Lugansk Media Center. “I bet other operators would launch mobile Internet after the New Year; they need time for technicalities to improve network security.”
There is no doubt that the Defense Headquarters and the Republic’s Head (Leonid Pasechnik) will give their permission once the requirements have been met, the minister said.
The LPR leader earlier ordered the Digital Development Ministry to test-launch mobile Internet in parts of the Republic starting December 14. Wireless Internet is currently unavailable in Lisichansk, Severodonetsk, Rubezhnoye, Kremennaya and Svatovo due their proximity to the frontline.
