Repairs have been launched on the Novoaidar hospital which came under Kiev artillery fire last week, Lugansk People’s Republic healthcare Minister Natalia Paschenko told TASS.
Kiev forces fired four missiles from a US-made high mobility artillery rocket system at Novoaidar on Saturday morning hitting the hospital and six homes. Fourteen patients were killed and another 24 were wounded.
“The blast wave damaged several hospital blocks. Their supporting framework is intact. Windows, doors, and the boiler house were damaged by the blast wave,” Paschenko said. “We’ve carried out temporary repairs and restored building insulation on our own. People come; medical assistance is provided to them.”
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.
