The Federation Council upper house of the Russian parliament includes two representatives from each region from the legislative and executive branches of power. Under the law, the regional legislative body can only be represented in the Federation Council by a deputy of this body.The other senator from the LPR is Deputy Secretary of the United Russia General Council Darya Lantratova. The LPR’s 3rd People’s Council vested senator powers in Bas for the first time in December 2022. After the LPR held its first elections after accession to Russia, Bas said that she was ready to forgo her lawmaker’s mandate and continue working as senator if the parliament so decided. *** The first local elections in the Lugansk People’s Republic after its accession to Russia took place in all its 28 municipalities on September 8 through September 10. Early voting was held on September 1 - 4 at 329 exterritorial polling stations in 81 Russian regions for residents staying outside the LPR, while on September 2 through 7, it was held for residents living in remote areas. Voter turnout at the LPR parliamentary election was 72.53 percent.*i
LPR parliament reappoints Olga Bas as Russian senator
The Lugansk People’s Republic 1st People’s Council has vested Russian senator powers in United Russia deputy Olga Bas.
The parliament unanimously supported the decision.
