LUGANSK, November 11 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Voters in the LPR are going to the polls today to elect the Head and deputies of the People's Council with hopes that the elections shall bring the Republic to international recognition.
"Voting stations opened across the LPR at 8 a.m," the Central Election Comission secretary Ekaterina Tereschenko said.
They are scheduled to close at 8 p.m., but their operation might be prolonged.
The four candidates running for Head have promised to focus on improving economy, living standards, heath care and social guarantees, and to fight corruption.
In accordance with the Article 16 of the Election Law, in order to win a candidate needs the majority of votes cast. In case top candidates get equal number of ballots, the first one to register shall be the winner.
