The Lugansk People’s Republic Prosecutor General’s Office has asked lawmakers and LRP Head Leonid Pasechnik to consider tougher punishment for the commission of crimes against peace and security of mankind, LPR PGO spokeswoman Inna Semyonova said at a press briefing at the Lugansk Media Centre.

“The LPR Prosecutor General’s Office asks deputies of the People’s Council and the LPR Head to consider more severe punishment for crimes involving banned means and methods of warfare, as well as for the commission of genocide, to as far as capital punishment,” Semyonova said. “PGO investigators have gathered enough evidence that warrants tougher penalties for certain offences covered by the LPR Criminal Code, such as crimes against peace and security of mankind.”

The spokeswoman said that the investigation into the “criminal cases earlier filed by the PGO over the use of banned means and methods of warfare and the commission of genocide uncovered outrageous facts showing the inhumanity of Ukrainian gunmen who joined the so-called voluntary battalions or the Ukrainian army.

“Every crime has a name and last name,” Semyonova said. “We know many of them, but cannot disclose them at the moment in the interests of the investigation. Punishment has to be commensurate with the crime, and nothing can excuse the murder of Donbass civilians by Ukrainian gunmen. As history shows, for example, the Nuremberg trials, such crimes have no statute of limitations.*i*s
