Police officers in Rubezhnoye have seized foreign weapons and ammunition which belonged to Ukrainian forces, the Lugansk People’s Republic Interior Ministry press service reported.
“Detectives found weapons and ammunition of foreign origin under the debris of an education center,” the press service said. “They seized two British NLAW anti-tank missile systems, 13 foreign grenade launchers, a German M-42 machine gun, an AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher, and some 400 7.62mm rounds.”
“It’s another proof of the fact that Ukrainian armed formation organized their positions at civil infrastructure facilities using civilians as a “human shield,” the LPR Interior Ministry said.
Local residents said that the education center had been blown up by retreating Ukrainian troops.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.
President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression on February 24, 2022. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.
The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*ie
