Russia’s Investigative Committee records aftermath of Ukrainian strike at hotel in Alchevsk
Russian Investigative Committee (SK) officers have recorded the aftermath of the Ukrainian artillery attack at the Metallurg Hotel in the town of Alchevsk in the Lugansk People’s Republic.
Ukrainian armed formations fired two missiles from an American high mobility artillery rocket system at Alchevsk at 05:33 on Monday.
“SK investigators have inspected the damage caused by the Ukrainian missile strike to the Alchevsk steel mill’s hotel,” an SK officer said. “They found fragments of missiles which are supposedly NATO ammunition.”
Local residents said that the hotel and its area had never accommodated troops.
“It’s an absolutely calm and peaceful district; the hotel is half empty; it belongs to the metallurgical works,” pensioner Vasily told the Lugansk Media Center. He said that Kiev forces had shelled Alchevsk “on purpose, in order to intimidate the population and show that they can shell Russian territory.”
Earlier, the LPR Office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes reported that one person remained under the debris of the hotel in Alchevsk.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.
The Lugansk People’s Republic joined Russia on September 30, 2022, based on the results of the unification referendum.*i*v
