Russian prominent singer Iosif Kobzon, People's Artist of the USSR and People's Artist of LPR, gave a concert in Lugansk today.
The artist emphasized he wanted to perform in the city on the day of Orthodox Holiday of the Intercession of the Theotokos.
LPR representatives thanked him for the visit and presented him an icon of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos. Kobzon's accompanier Alexey Evsikov was awarded Medal for Merit 2nd class.
"I am happy you came here today," Kobzon addressed the audience. "I see courageous, self-sacrificing and strong people who believe in victory."
Earlier today he met pupils and staff of Lugansk music school No.1, saying he is eager to assist talented youth. He handed a TV set and office equipment to the music school.
Russian musician visited LPR several times. On June, 24th he celebrated here 60-years anniversary of his career. On December, 28th, 2015, LPR Head Igor Plotnitskiy awarded Kobzon a badge of honor for invaluable contribution to the Republic's development, which followed a People's Artist of LPR title.
Iosif Kobzon was born in Donbass in 1937 in the town of Chasov Yar. He is an honorary citizen of Donetsk, Makeevka, Artyemovsk, Gorlovka and other towns in Donetsk region. In 2014 after Kiev launched an offensive against Donbass, Kobzon was striped of his honorary citizenship in Dnepropetrovsk and other Ukrainian cities.
