An officer of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry Don Rescue Center has been wounded in an explosion during a mine clearance operation in the Zhyoltoye village area, Slavyanoserbsk District of the Lugansk People's Republic, the LPR Emergencies Ministry said.
“A 28-year-old Don Rescue Center ordnance disposal technician stepped on an anti-personnel mine during demining works in the Zhyoltoye settlement area, Slavyanovserbsk district, and was wounded in the explosion,” the Ministry said.
The wounded engineer, diagnosed with “traumatic amputation of right foot” was rushed to the Lugansk Republican Clinical Hospital in medium severity condition.
A joint team of LPR and Russian engineers reportedly find 50 to 150 explosive hazards in the LPR every day.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Earlier, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance. On July 3, the LPR militia and Russian armed forces fully liberated the LPR territory from Ukrainian armed formations.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The peace talks participants have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014.
