LUGANSK, February 26 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Stakhanov Ferroalloy Plant is ready to launch ferrosilicon production, the LPR minister of industry and trade Dmitry Bozhich said.
"In the autumn all necessary preparations were carried out on Stakhanov ferroalloy plant to launch one furnace. Its operation was restored."
"Today engineers prepare the second line to secure stable production. As soon as the repairs are finished the plant will be ready to begin production of ferrosilicon."
The minister said future customers had already been defined.
"We are adding jobs, as the plant is gradually being put back into operation, the number of employees grows."
Earlier acting LPR head Leonid Pasechnik said the Republic is determined to relaunch major plants and enterprises.
Stakhanov Ferroalloy Plant specializes in silicon alloys manufacturing. It used to be the biggest producer of ferrosilicon in Ukraine. The plant was built in 1959. By the end of 1962 there were eight furnaces operating full time. In 2014, during the military aggression of Ukraine against Donbass, the plant sustained serious damage and seized operations. The Republican authorities designed a plan for the overhaul of the plant.
