The two children wounded in the Kiev artillery attack on Perevalsk are in critical but stable condition at the Lugansk Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital (LRDKB), deputy chief doctor for surgery Andrey Krainyuk told reporters.
Kiev forces fired a missile from a high mobility artillery rocket system at Perevalsk at 13:10 on Sunday killing three people including a 17-year-old boy, and wounding another 16 including four children.
“We admitted two children yesterday. One was taken to an IT ward with polytrauma and one to the surgery unit. Both are in critical but stable condition. It’s too early to make predictions, time will show,” Krainyuk said.
Perevalsk district administration head Vitaly Mikhailov said that Kiev forces’ attack had targeted civilians.
Lugansk People’s Republic Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The peace talks that began soon thereafter failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression on February 24, 2022. Prior to that, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance.
