LUGANSK, January 27 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Ukrainian armed forces used electronic warfare systems to interfere with SMM's UAVs in the vicinity of Krymskoye and Novotoshkovskoye, said LPR People's Militia press service officer Ivan Filiponenko.

"Despite the fact that SMM is paying special attention to the monitoring of weapons banned under the Minsk Agreements, the JFO command has decided to use electronic warfare," he said.

"We have spotted a Bukovel-AD mobile EW system of the 20th separate electronic warfare battalion operating in the 93rd brigade area of responsibility outside Prichepilovka. It was jamming SMM's UAV over Ukraine-controlled territory, near Krymskoye and Novotoshkovskoye," Filiponenko said.

Earlier LPR People's Militia spotted Ukrainian EW systems operating in the zones of 72nd and 59th brigade.

According to the Article 7 of the Minsk Memorandum dated 19 September 2014, the use of combat aircrafts and UAVs is banned along the contact line in the 30km-wide zone of ceasefire, with the only exception made for the OSCE SMM aerial vehicles used to monitor the situation.

The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine on February 12, 2015 and supported by member states of the Normandy Four (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The UN Security Council approved the document by Resolution 2202 and called upon all the sides to ensure full implementation of the Package of Measures.

The document provides for comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal of all heavy weapons from the contact line, starting a dialog on reconstruction of social and economic ties between Kiev and Donbass. It also envisages carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine providing for decentralization and adopting permanent legislation on a special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
