A famous US-Ukrainian pianist, Valentina Lisitsa has performed in the Lugansk Academic Philharmonic for the first time in her career.
"Together with the Academic Symphonic orchestra directed by LPR Honored Artist Alexander Schurov, the musician performed Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 and Rakhmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2," the Philharmonic said in a statement.
Lisitsa said that "she experienced an unbelievable inspiration thanks to the public, and the orchestra performing in their hometown".
"We performed in Crimea some time ago. I am happy that now I debuted in Lugansk. Prokofiev sounds special on the Donbass land. We realize how important Russian music is, it is in our blood, it's a part of us. Today's audience have an acute feeling of this music in the terrible situation that is happening, in the situation of loss, fight and misery. But at the same time there is hope, the understanding that we have such music that we are also fighting for," she said.
Lisitsa added that she would love to come back and perform in Lugansk again. *t
