The Lugansk People’s Republic Election Commission has formed 31 territorial commissions, an official told the Lugansk Media Center.
“The LPR Election Commission has held its fourth meeting today; the work to form the LPR election system is ongoing,” Commission Chairperson Yelena Kravchenko said. “Today, we have formed 31 territorial election commissions and appointed their chairpersons.”
The Commission is now forming district election bodies, Kravchenko added.
Russia’s Central Election Commission chairperson Ella Pamfilova said that the CEC had been making scheduled preparations for elections on Single Voting Day on September 10.
On January 19, the LPR parliament approved the law on election/referendum commissions in the Republic. LPR Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik said that the document envisioned the opportunity to hold remote e-voting.
The LPR Election Commission was formed on February 28, after its 12 members had been approved by the Republic’s parliament and the LPR acting head on parity basis.
In March, LPR parliamentarians passed the law on the establishment of town and municipal districts and their boundaries.
The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
