FC speaker suggests establishing Council for integration of new regions
Speaker of the Federation Council upper house of the Russian parliament Valentina Matviyenko has called for setting up the Council for integration of the new regions, which can start working on October 1, FC member representing the Lugansk People's Republic Darya Lantratova reported in a post on Telegram.
“The Council will coordinate the establishment of the legal framework of the new regions, provide assistance and introduce the best practices,” Matviyenko said.
She said that she would inform the Russian president about the initiative in the nearest future.
“I think that it’s a useful initiative. If the president approves, I’ll ask First Deputy FC Speaker Andrey Yatskin to head the Council, prepare the provision, select members and ensure effective work starting October 1,” Matviyenko said.
“Regrettably, Ukrainian authorities have not developed these regions in the past three decades,” Lantratova said. “We must make all efforts to help them meet the high standards adopted in our country.”
The Lugansk People’s Republic, Donetsk People’s Republic and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referenda. *i*ie
