The first office issuing Russian passports in the liberated territories has been opened in Starobelsk, the LPR Ministry of Interior said.
"The opening of the centre issuing Russian passports in the liberated territory, in Starobelsk, is symbolic. Now, it takes residents less time to file documents for the Russian citizenship and to receive the document," the report reads.
Such offices are a better option first and foremost for elderly and physically challenged residents.
Two centres issuing Russian passports are already operating in Lugansk and Antratsit. The third centre has just opened in Alchevsk.
A total of 284,000 LPR residents have obtained Russian passports so far.
Russia started a special military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the decision had been made after the DPR and LPR Heads addressed him asking for help.
The Russian leader said that Moscow is not planning to occupy Ukrainian territory, the only goal is to protect people who have been continuously shelled and subjected to other forms of genocide by Ukraine for eight years. *t
