Lugansk People’s Republic Head Leonid Pasechnik said that he is not afraid of any economic sanctions that can be imposed against him following the recognition of the Donbass Republics.

“All these economic sanctions clearly aim to restrict my economic opportunities,” Pasechnik said in remarks aired by Russia24 channel. “I frankly state that I have no bank accounts or property abroad or in Ukraine or elsewhere, so I’m not afraid of these sanctions.”

The LPR leader said that Russia was the key strategic partner and the greatest friend for the Republics.

“I believe that by pooling our efforts we’ll be able to overcome all these sanctions and hardships that befell the former republics of our former big country which represents the Russian World,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the sovereignty of the Lugansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic on February 21, 2022. He asked the Federal Assembly to support this decision and then ratify the friendship and mutual assistance treaty with the Donbass Republics.

On the same day, Putin and LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik signed a friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance treaty between the Russian Federation and the Lugansk People’s Republic.

Pasechnik and the LPR parliament had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to recognize the sovereignty and independence of the Lugansk People’s Republic. DPR Head Denis Pushilin had made a similar request of the Russian leader. *i*s
