About 2,200 grass fires have occurred in the Lugansk People’s Republic since the beginning of this year, the LPR Emergencies Ministry press service reported.

“As many as 2,194 dry grass fires have been recorded in LPR ecosystem since the beginning of the year,” the report said.

The number of fires as of June 29 was 1,326.

The highest level of blazes hazard was extended until August 1 across the LPR.

There are five fire danger levels: very low, low, moderate, high and very high.

LPR Emergencies Ministry reminded that making fires in forests and steppes was prohibited during the fire hazard period. Leaving glass bottles or glass fragments in forest and steppe areas is also banned, as glass can act as a magnifying lens to start a fire. *t
