A Lugansk People’s Republic service member was killed as Kiev forces fired at the Veselogorovka village, LPR People’s Militia press service officer Alexander Mazeikin said.
“Today, Kiev gunmen fired a recoilless gun (SPG) and large caliber machine guns at the Vesologorovka settlement from positions of the Ukrainian army’s 30th Brigade in the Troitskoye area, at the criminal order of Brigade commander (Alexander Zinevich),” Mazeikin said. “We regret to report that our service member died in the line of duty as a result of Ukrainian gunmen’s aggression. We convey our heartfelt condolences to his family.”
While active discussions of the Donbass situations are ongoing at international venues, and Ukrainian leadership is making firm statements on their commitments to peaceful conflict settlement, Ukrainian gunmen on the contact line show the true intensions of the Kiev regime, he said.
"The enemy focused on preparing and carrying out provocations to unsettle the situation and create favorable conditions for launching aggression,”Mazeikin added.
The members of the Contact Group have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with large caliber artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn in accordance with the Minsk agreements.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. Conflict settlement relies on the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, signed on February 12, 2015 in the Belarussian capital by the Contact Group members and coordinated by the Normandy Four heads of states (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine). The document provides for ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons from the contact line. *i*s
