The Lugansk Aircraft Repair Plant plans to launch production by the summer, said Lugansk People’s Republic Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik.   “We’re reviving it through joint efforts of the Russian government and the Republic,” Pasechnik said in a post on Telegram. “The plant, a key LPR enterprise, has not operated since 2014. In February, a group of officials led by Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov visited the enterprise. He said that it was a good plant and that it would restored within a short timeframe.”   Stock-taking is underway and a road map has been prepared to revive the aircraft engine maintenance technology, he said.   “We plan to begin maintenance of Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopter engines by the summer and reach pre-war production targets in 18 months. We’re immensely grateful to the Russian government for its assistance in restoring this large company which will certainly work for our common good,” Pasechnik said.    The Lugansk Aircraft Repair Plant state-owned company was the only enterprise in Donbass which provided maintenance of military and civil aircraft engines and dual technology equipment including helicopter main reducers.   It was the first plant in the former Soviet Union to master the technology for overhauling the famous TB3-177 helicopter engine and was the first aircraft repair plant in Ukraine to be certified to ISO 9001.   The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
