The new regions will receive more than 600 new buses from Russia’s Transport Ministry this year, the government press service reported citing Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
Khusnullin took part in a session that addressed the prospects for the development of public transport in Russian regions.
“The deputy premier noted that the new regions were renewing their public transport fleets. In 2022, some 400 buses and more than 460 school buses were passed to the new territories, and another 600 buses will provided this year,” the press service said.
Public transport remains one of the most important travel methods for Russian citizens. The president set the tasks to develop all types of public transport at the federal and regional levels and launch routes in rural areas to create more comfortable environment for residents, Khusnullin said.
New routes will attract investors and stimulate the development of new urban areas. Public transport modernization also helps reduce traffic congestion, one of the most pressing problem of modern towns, he said.*i
