The recognition of the LPR by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a strong foundation of the further development of the bilateral relationship, the LPR Ambassador to Moscow Rodion Miroshnik said.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has recognized the Lugansk People's Republic on Wednesday.
"I have had the high honor to receive an official letter from the Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to Russia, Sin Hong-chul, with notification of the recognition of the Lugansk People's Republic by the government of the DPRK," Miroshnik said in his Telegram post.
"This historic event lays a solid foundation for the further development of open and fruitful relations between our Republics for the benefit of our peoples," he added.
Earlier, the Republic of Abkhazia recognized the Donbass Republic.
On February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the sovereignty of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics. He asked the Federal Assembly to support this decision and then ratify a friendship and mutual assistance treaty with the Donbass Republics. On the same day, Putin and LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik signed a friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance. *t
