Lugansk People’s Republic Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik has inspected the works to complete the construction of an apartment building in Lugansk which was suspended in 2014.
“The impressions are quite positive; the apartments are excellent and well-renovated,” Pasechnik said adding that priority in the provision of housing would be given “to our servicemen who are defending the Republic without sparing themselves.
The authorities will also provide apartments to refugees and displaced persons, he said.
Pasechnik said the LPR has problems with obtaining loans and allocating land plots for housing construction.
The Republic has joined the Russian legal system whose requirements are rather high. It cannot meet all of them at the present time because of the ongoing war, the ruined towns of Popasnaya, Lisichansk and Severodonetsk, and the damaged frontline settlements of Pervomaisk and Stakhanov.
“We’ll ask the leadership of our country to lower the requirement level to quickly launch construction,” the LPR leader said.
Veos contractor organization Director General Artyom Osetrov said that the apartment building was 80 percent ready and that it would be commissioned by mid-August.
The renovation works involve 150 people and five to seven pieces of equipment, he said.
It is the first unfinished construction project in the LPR capital since 2014 which will be completed this year, Lugansk mayor Manolis Pilavov said.
LPR authorities said that some 400 people are still staying at temporary accommodation centers. Many have returned home to liberated areas because of warm weather.
Construction workers have rebuilt some 400 houses and civil infrastructure facilities in the LPR since the beginning of this year, said LPR government deputy chairperson Yelena Kostenko.
LPR Construction and Public Utilities Minister Igor Zharkov said that the Russian sponsor regions helped the LPR rebuild more than 1,900 infrastructure facilities in 2022.
The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*sb
