Police official undergoes surgery, no threat to his life - LPR Health Ministry
Lugansk People’s Republic Acting Interior Minister Igor Kornet is in stable condition after abdominal surgery; there is no threat to his life, said LPR Healthcare Minister Natalia Pashchenko.
LPR Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik said that seven people including Kornet had been wounded in a terrorist attack in central Lugansk's Demekhina Street in a rush hour on Monday. The victims were rushed to hospitals.
“As of now, eight people hurt in yesterday’s terrorist attack in central Lugansk are in hospitals. Four men are in serious condition including Acting Interior Minister Igor Kornet. He underwent abdominal surgery yesterday. He’s in stable condition after anesthesia recovery; there is no threat to his life,” TASS quoted Pashchenko as saying.
The Investigative Committee department for the LPR opened criminal proceedings over attempted assassination of Kornet.
Military expert Lt-Col Andrey Marochko (Retired) said that the central Lugansk explosion showed that Ukraine’s military-political lead4ership had chosen to use methods of terror against LPR residents.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The peace talks failed to reach tangible results due to Kiev’s position to settle the conflict by force.
The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*v
