Engineers and demolition experts of Russia’s National Guard Service (Rosgvardia) have demined more than 5,000 square kilometers of territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic over a week, rendering harmless over 1,300 unexploded ordnance items, Rosgvardia’s press service reported.
“Over a week, Rosgvardia specialists have carried out engineer engineer reconnaissance on 200 kilometers of roads in the Lugansk People’s Republic and checked more than 5,000 square kilometers of terrain for the presence of unexploded ordnance,” the report said.
Rosgvardia personnel defused and disposed of some 600 mortar and artillery rounds, seven “Grad” multiple launcher rounds, more than 200 mines and grenades and over 500 underbarrel and rocket-propelled grenade launcher rounds, the press service said.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. Earlier, LPR and DPR Heads Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin asked the Russian leader to provide military assistance. On July 3, the LPR militia and Russian armed forces fully liberated the LPR territory from Ukrainian armed formations.
