The “United Russia” (ER) political party has urged faster issue of Russian passports to Lugansk People’s Republic residents, the press service of the Party’s Lugansk branch said after a meeting of the ER regional Political Council.
The meeting was attended by Head of ER Central Executive Committee, Deputy Secretary of ER General Council Alexander Sidyakin, State Duma deputy Viktor Vodolatsky, Lugansk regional branch Secretary Denis Miroshnichenko, regional Political Council members, coordinators and chairpersons of community councils for ER federal projects in the LPR and activists.
The participants discussed a fast track passport procedure, rebuilding of homes and infrastructure, compensations for ruined or damaged houses, social guarantees and benefits.
Sidyakin, who visited LPR frontline areas before the meeting, noted high morale of the troops. “Residents encounter problems related to Ukraine’s military aggression and the transition period,” the ER press service quoted him as saying.
“It is important to expedite the issue of Russian passports as the process has not been fast enough; people are waiting for a long time to submit documents and get the passport,” he said.
Sidyakin also urged more vigorous outreach efforts to inform the population about the social guarantees to which they are entitled in the Russian Federation.
“United Russia” set up its regional branch in the LPR on October 21, 2022. LPR parliament speaker Denis Miroshnichenko was elected its secretary. Deputy chairman of the Russian parliament committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, United Russia’ deputy Viktor Vodolatsky announced the launching of reception rooms to work with residents of the region and form party supporters institution in the Republic. “United Russia” said that more than 22,000 people had joined the party by the time the LPR branch was established.
To address people’s problems, the “United Russia” chairman opened a public reception room in Lugansk on December 1, 2022, on the 21st anniversary of party establishment.
The Lugansk People’s Republic acceded to Russia on September 30, 2022 following the unification referendum.*i*ie
